folks

sometimes I snatch one like this

usually I ask or mime a request

at times I think the person so beautiful, I have to get one

& I'm grateful when they can see I see how
beautiful they are.
& you know, I read about a photographer I admire,
who thinks he must know the people first.
It often seems though, when travelling, that the senses
are heightened, the barriers drop, & theres the
knowing that we are not separate. Very occasionally
the camera is also in tune.

girls-1

Much as I'd like to photograph lots of people
while I'm travelling - so many wonderful faces -

am hesitant to do so, & even more so to post them
(so the only label is 'photos')

Sometimes we share a language, that helps.
How do you approach it?

still

What I most remember about dawns in Pokhara
is the stillness

yes, theres the start of noise, birds, dogs, kitchens

then theres the mountains coming into being
halfway up the sky.

I want that book!

lake

The panorama option on my camera works for some views

generally I like to see things closer

The lake in Pokhara covered most preferences.

time

These would be good to draw

but the camera is quicker

the lilies in my garden have a faster clock than mine..

variations

Have begun painting again, after a long time.
About 10 years!
Today I tried out this idea on the computer, its
crumpled waxed paper superimposed with a photo
I took in Nepal; perhaps I'll try out a variation as a print.
Probably wont paint it, am enjoying attempting to get
the mountains as I saw them there:
simultaneously solid & ethereal.

drops

Had trouble with my printer, made a mess in the sink,
got some photos of it.
Bad bushfires in many parts of Australia,
..send some rain..
