just here

clockwise: nasturtium leaf, a large spider at my door,
the seed stems of the tiger (or zebra?) grass.
I photographed it with paper beneath it, for the shadows,
while I got lots more dappled sunlight for use in
the new images. Luckily, as there was no sun today.

leaf-ing

3 new ones, they look good, big; I am also selling them
as limited edition prints, so small is what you get here.
More details by email (see under about me in right column)

have never done luxury travel, but if I did,

wet drive

Remembered how to transfer photos from my camera.
I was out with a friend on a wet day, we drove to Ballina,
too wet to look for whales. The paperbarks at
lake Ainsworth were sitting in water. I like this kind of
light for a change, but so glad it's bright much of the time.

111

Couldn't waste any more time trying to get the
camera's memory card onto the computer, so here's a few
from a folder of favourite beach shots. My default for
when there's more interesting things than, well, blogging.
A friend sent an email about numbers: did you know that
if you take the last 2 digits of your year of birth,
& add the age you will be this year, it is the same for
everyone - 111.

angles

Looking through thousands of photos, these caught
my attention yesterday ~ strange how that happens,
don't you think?

that is, I took them in asia, at different times,
then for some reason they came as a group on another day.
Just different frames of mind, I guess. (unless I already did it..)
Right is linoleum over tiles.

new tricks

Having learnt some new digital tricks yesterday,
lots of fun with them today,
am not so keen for judgement day tomorrow ~ whatever that
is supposed to mean. Doubt it figures in the buddhist canon.
What do you think?

lines

This is more like the sections of waves I glued
together from my big stash of beach shots,
I tried as many different combos as
the waves suggested, on successive pages.

16/05/2011

slick

There may be a proper name for the wet reflective edges of
the ocean, I generally think either a slick,
or a lick.
Certain times of day can have an astounding shimmer.

small waves

Don't you love it when the water is clear,
& the light catches the movements of small waves?

12/05/2011

shallows

As I mentioned, I've been going through a large number of
prints, from before I had a digital camera, I'll post some
I scanned as well. The shallow water at the edge of the sea
can have any colour, depending on sky, sun, tides etc,
& patterns too. At Byron the colour of the sand can change,
perhaps from ti-tree run-off.

exercising

Exercising the brain, by working on both the pc & mac,
without fully understanding the latter, but it's clear that the
big bright screen is better to work on.
Can feel the neurons skidding around, making as if to leap
into/across the void, maybe it's true it helps to
do brain calisthenics?

Why not try the comment option?

edges

Instead of trashing a big carton of prints, mostly taken at
the beach, I decided to cut them up into different
versions, & glue into drawing books; some of them
work well, this was the only one I scanned.
On a page -flat- they looked more like foam figures.
(It might be a bit like keeping leftovers in the fridge,
so you can throw them away later.)
A spangled drongo visited my garden today.

sand

There aren't always crabs at the beach, they always
leave intricate marks, the (almost) map of Australia was
a real find, also love the shadow of the sponge.
Considerably louder/more vivid: J.J.Cromer
& someone I visit, currently in India/Nepal:
postcards from behind the hedge and beyond

four more

More buddhas, a different folder.

lovely creations: geraldine gonzalez

odd mix

I think I had various ideas when I put this
folder together, some are just pictures I like,
eg Elvis with royalty, the buddha reflected;
top is a reminder of a very dark period, in Cambodia.

new prints

Here are 4 new ones, available as limited edition prints,
more details by contacting me (email me,
address at right hand column under 'about me')
They are 16 inches wide, on glossy paper;
with digital printing, it can be variable, just not super large.
They look really fine on the new 27 inch screen.
If this sounds a bit vague: I'm making new ones, trying to
back up fiddly details eg bookmarks in a different browser,
learn the intricacies of the new Mac,
plus remember there is a body to take care of.
