wallflowers

Joined several photos to make big files, there's a lot of detail
which of course doesn't show up at web res.

new

Still learning the good & bad of a new camera,
I'd like to be more methodical but ... am learning
what doesn't work, & think I'll remember.

gobekli tepe ~ hope to get there, quite soon.

testing

Have been learning/testing a new camera

it has a 12x zoom which I really like; the quality isn't brilliant
on auto, so I'll have to get used to all the manual settings.
(& of course the quality drops at 72dpi)

check out Frans Lanting's wonderful photography

hot & cold

Two of my altered photos, left is a tree fern in the tropics
right
is winter, in Colorado, both have a similar sentiment,
if you can see what I've added.

soft

The deliciously soft flowers of acacia ~ it's Australian I think,
not sure about the green one, it has the look
of a rain forest tree.

glimpses

What I remember of some streets in San Cristobal de las Casas
is how a different group of musicians would be practicing
in every other house, one's walk was serenaded ..

& some walls - as left - were so beautifully altered by
the elements, other images emerged.

time travel

Varanasi is an intense experience, even for India ~
as if remembered from past lives, with great affection,
also a bit tatty around the edges since the first time.
Still that oasis of calm at Sarnath.

ganga

On this shorter trip to Varanasi, the Ganges was in flood:
another great river with a presence like no other. It's easy to
feel the city has been there for thousands of years, that perhaps
the same pilgrims have crossed for lifetimes, the same buffalo
cooling off, the maze of narrow alleys leading one into
countless stories.

wet seasons

In the months I was there, it was rainy, damp, with misty
mornings, it's no wonder most old buildings were in
a state of advanced decay, always washing optimistically
draped over railings, rooves, shrubs. Picturesque too.

damp

There are small temples in the surroundings, wall paintings
often peeling from damp. In the mornings I could hear Hindu
bells, Tibetan & Nepali chanting & muslim muezzin,
apparently all existing harmoniously.

darjeeling tea

Shall add more scans from Darjeeling photos.
My hotel room looked onto this view, though it was often
obscured by clouds. The Gymkhana club was still well kept,
but time & the climate had ravaged much of the town.

Tea plantations thrive on the steep terraced hills
around the town.

Lots of great talks on Ted global in July

sculpture

There's been a sculpture show in the park by the main beach,
some I liked very much
also that many people have visited.

I especially enjoyed those which are site specific,
like those incorporating Pandanus palms.

& of course the surrounding landscape.
(my favourite will have to wait, it's still on another camera)

I really like the work of Cal Lane

more dreams

Four more of the 'dream remedies' series;
even our dreams can assist with determining the
required homeopathic remedy. In effect, that system
also takes the unconscious into account ~ useful!

riverboat

Isn't it clever, how we can think of a trip down the Mekong,
for instance, & go there again any time, with photos..

It was such a mesmerising 2 days, constantly changing.
There's something beyond time on a large river system,
humans & their affairs have swept past for millennia,
the river endures (unless we've really screwed up)

balance

Someone had balanced some rocks at the edge of the beach.
Left I liked the serrated shadows on the travellers' palm.

I hadn't read this until now: only love & then oblivion

cats & dogs

Vine covered trees often make quite bizarre shapes,
or remind me of something else..

Dogs are allowed at Bilongil beach, they have such fun.
There was even a young Irish wolfhound.
