more dragons

The only connection I can think of to dragons, today, is that
if I were a dragon I'd be hibernating in my cave.
Did enjoy seeing all the variations, in Chiang Mai.

colour?

Have been thinking about colour versus b/w;
originally found the temple with stucco figures
because of a b/w postcard,

yet what often attracts me is the subtle differences
in colours, plus the only just coloured.Would you realise
the roof above is leaves, otherwise?
Although I really like black & white photographs
these days I see (& look) in colour.

wouldn't it be marvellous to use a large format camera!

dreams-2

A few more of the series I painted of homeopathic
remedies, & the dreams they produce.

lower left was one of several flower pictures that I was
advised could remedy a lack of funds. Now I know what works
best is to just paint what really captures my attention.

dreams

Two more of the dream remedies series. It would take
too long to explain the theory of homeopathy, as well as the
idea that certain remedies produce recognisable dreams.
I did quite a bit of research at the time, plus dreaming.
Years & years..
It may be easier now, with the web, if you're interested.

bounce

Yesterday I wanted to photograph this camelia hedge before
the wind & rain finished it. It's in town

so I kept walking 3 blocks to the beach

brilliant light, bouncing off/into clouds, water, sand, me..

jewels

On a day trip from Chiang Mai, I thought I was taking
a lot of photos, now I wish I'd made many more, it was an
absolute jewel of a temple. I love how you can click
all day, or until it gets too hot to hold!

waving

Gorgeous morning at the beach.. any thoughts
get zapped away..

Months back, a piece about artist/hermit residency,
in Manchester, it sounded like a great thing to do.
An amazing fellow, Ansuman Biswas , who got it

manikins

Not sure what it is about some manikins
that amuses me.. partly it's because in asia they mostly
seem to have been made some place very different ?

delicious food blog, recipes from all over

garden

We've had plenty of rain, the country is still lush,
& that large bird has returned for the cool weather,
or perhaps to make a nest. Hard to photograph, they
keep hiding: "if I can't see you, you won't see me"
The big old palms have a profusion of ferns as a second layer.

winter beach

A walk with a friend to one of the beaches where
we can take the dog. Almost people free ~ winter.

danger

Versions of this scene were usually part of a series in
Thai temples that showed the life of the buddha.
I'm not sure where they come in to that cycle.
It definitely looks like a dangerous journey..

stencils

While joining 2 photos to make the larger image, I saw that
it's probably a combination of stencils & a style
which resembles one ~ but it would be easier to paint
by hand, rather than cut so many stencils.
It's such an effective way to embellish a wall, isn't it.

clear

The seagull was a separate shot, the sky was blue all over.
Sometimes I wake in the morning & don't remember
what day it is, or even where.. & who is this me??
It all streams back in pretty quickly, though.

Really great photos: Joakim Eskildsen

scribble

A scribble of vine stems, on the way to the beach.
There's always something new to notice, isn't there?

playing

It's fun to just play, without an agenda, isn't it?
I love trees and it amuses me how their foliage
nearly always hides secret faces.

From Georgia O'Keeffe country. Had scanned them
years ago, but used filters (swear off them now,
or you'll regret it later).

sharp

This is what I meant about the different persona
of some trees.. though it's more that straight
sharp lines give a harder design, I think.

old contacts

More retrievals from old contact prints

In the north Indian mountains, & Pushkar, Rajasthan.

b/w

Have tried to get a bit more out of these; only have tiny
contact prints, even their surface has begun to crack.
Scanning at 1200 dpi means I can enlarge them,
but lots of unwanted detail.

They date from a trip across to Ladahk from Srinagar.
By bus, in the early 70's. Also a week on the Jhelum river.

changeless

It's hard to imagine parts of India being 'renovated',
but who can tell. It would be nice if people could
find a more comfortable life and keep the picturesque.
Can't recall this temple, I think the central
figure represents Brahma.

don't fix

Sporadically cleaning or tidying, which often means I
get sidetracked ~ into scanning, in this case.
I hope that this town I liked so much
(San Cristobal de las Casas)
doesn't start 'fixing' itself like some of the northern towns.

A week of wet gray days, so here to remind me,
six different days at the beach.

autumn

Visited Bangalow on the weekend, it's odd to see autumn
leaves & palm trees together. There's a nice park
& swimming hole one street back from the main road.

corners

These are next to each other in a folder of scanned photos,
which means before I had a digital camera, & they're all near
San Cristobal de las Casas. I'm liking the idea of
randomly choosing photos for colour, or by number,
or almost with my eyes closed, they make their
own stories, then.
Unusual stormy morning here, a 'twister' at nearby town.

faces

Not so much looking for the faces..

as having them jump out at me. Don't worry if you can't see
them, look through your own photos, they've had this
secret life all along..

sublackwell ~ gorgeous!

winter faces

More of the forest faces revealed by mirror-ing

this one reminds me of how it was to start cross country
ski-ing, alone in the silence of snow, with only the trees
to see.. they were balancing with me..
