walk

The best place to walk here is at a beach.
The main beach has a long thin lagoon along the land side,
at present, with a kind of grass growing left.

Was thinking today about Brother David Steindl Rast,
who spent time with us on one of Stan Grof's wonderful
month long intensives. This youtube video has Rick Tarnis
speaking about Stan's chart. Rick gave me a really
in depth & useful reading while I was at Esalen.
So grateful for the memorable people we met there
& the ideas we were exposed to !

poetry

In the late 80's I met a workshop leader who also wrote
poetry, these pictures date from that time, about 1991.
It was winter in Colorado, unbelievably cold outside,
but mostly blue skies that looked like summer
in Australia, it tricked me many times.
I moved between there & Mexico.

eighties

These date from month long intensives at Esalen, in the
80's, holotropic breath work with Dr Stanislav Grof.
There is a special celebration this month at Esalen
for Stan's 80th birthday. They were really memorable
workshops, not only for the depth of the sessions, & the
interesting cross section of teachers he assembled, but
especially for his presence: generous, wise, loving.
A great one!

Continuing random choices from my files, in the effort to
leave more time for other..whatever.
Here is San Cristobal de las Casas in Mexico left
& rocks near Crested Butte in Colorado.

shingle

Loved this beach on Maui, near Lahaina as I recall,
zillions of wonderful stones, making music with each
wave.

From Georgia O'Keeffe country. Had scanned them
years ago, but used filters (swear off them now,
or you'll regret it later).

winter faces

More of the forest faces revealed by mirror-ing

this one reminds me of how it was to start cross country
ski-ing, alone in the silence of snow, with only the trees
to see.. they were balancing with me..

aerial

From the air ~ don't know how much you'll be able to see,
they're 2 of my altered photos. It's the one thing I really like
about flying: seeing the country.

Looks like a really great trip: hoofprinting with evliya

rock

Some days at the beach are a big surprise,
the tides unearth different rocks, which may be covered
again for another 50 or more years; once I saw some
with 1915 scratched in. Same with sand patterns,
it can feel like a private showing.

Then there's the rocks that have held a powerful position
in the culture, for millennia. Nimbin Rocks top right
is one which indigenous women are not supposed to even
look at.. I saw some very unusual sights there one time.
Canyon de Chelly in the usa has an elevated, spiritual vibration
~ similar to being in the high mountains.

laurent freyss photographs, I really enjoy his view of India.
& look at denis polge's paintings

as it is

In 2010, I wish you the kind of year where you can
chill out when it gets too hot

...or warm yourself if things turn cold.
& most of all that you can simply enjoy each moment as it is ...

meeting

About 1986, at Esalen left, I did my first workshop with
Eli & Gangaji, they are in Byron Bay now ~ nice to see them.
There's quite a big interest here in 'spiritual' matters,
also a very wide range of people catering to that interest..
right is from a retreat I attended at Kyogle with Isaac.

A truly amazing series of photos from yatch-maiken,

Maybe you noticed I've added more labels. Didn't want a huge list,
so these altered photos come up under 'digital art', even though
many are, for instance, out the window of a speeding car in
a blizzard (here it's Colorado); it's just me enjoying myself.

As I was this afternoon, listening to Tuvan throat singers on
youtube. Kongar-ol Ondar, & again, & a longer one

If you are new to blogs: you can contact me via a comment,
see under each post/entry; it gets to me as an email,
I can then reply. It saves me getting heaps of spam, supposedly.

Further to the 7 or 8 posts starting Nov23, ~ more or less
about relationships ~ here's a great youtube video.
reality as you know it doesn't exist
so, if you are going through 'something'... relax !

rushing by

These 2 altered photos date from stays in Colorado &
near Lincoln on east coast usa. click on image to enlarge.
I nearly wrote enrage, I continue to have problems
with signing in, layout being changed etc, on my blog ~
life's too short for so much fiddling around. If you write
a comment, I'll know that at least you are reading it..

Another altered photo, I was in California.

postcards

Found 2 postcards closer to what I meant before,
left from Maui, the other in Kyoto. I wish I was more interested in
being super organised, but.. there is about 40 years of work
in my house. Plus, isn't a bit of mess conducive to some
cross fertilisation? Certainly that's what seems to happen
in imagination: a thought jumps, out of context, into another..
Or maybe the hybrid leaps into the mind from nowhere..

Lovely work from Janet Jones

preferences

How are we meant to be without distinctions?

hot/cold, wet/dry, whatever ~ if you don't recognise the difference,
there's going to be some rather uncomfortable moments..

maybe the aim is to drop the preferences, though why not go for
the jugular, & stop believing in the I who'd have them..
Reminds me, somehow, of the description of a
homeopathic remedy, (sulphur ?) :
'thinks everything is beautiful' ~ only it's meant
in a derogatory way, as if you'd be crazy to think so. Weird, no?

Lots of superlatives you can use here at agence eureka

postcards

Tried a few different images like this, which can be read in at
least 2 ways, though my favourites are photographs that make
sense from all sides, great for postcards. Just can't
locate one right this minute.

This isn't quite what I mean, it's one of my altered photos.

Finding some lovely art & craft blogs lately:

colour of memory

One winter, staying in Provincetown, not much money.
Realised some memory had lost colour, as the few photos
were mostly b/w. Also it's a season of restricted colour, in the
northern hemisphere.

Became friends with some other artists who were very kind
despite their similar circumstances. One of them had this
gorgeous little cottage, it was only usable in summer.

You probably know Landscape & Memory ~ if not - it's great.

avalokiteshvara

From 5 different museums, photos of Kuan Yin, & a drawing
I did of a 12th c statue. Originally Avalokiteshvara, the name
became Kuan Yin as Buddhism moved east to China.

She/he is the embodiment of compassion.
Sorry, it was long ago, ('80's ?) I didn't note where they were.

Buddhanet will fill in any blanks.. & listen to the beautiful
Ani Choying, also singing Amazing Grace, or anything at all.

inheritance-1

Taking it easy for a few days, so here's a readable version
of a small family book I posted last year.

My family also finds it a bit obscure..

But I still like it. Click for larger view

A lovely site for a great master, Satyajit Ray.
