timetables

Posting some old work for while I'm away for a few days.
Back then I made a few small tables ~ timetables ~
with screenprints, collage & 3D elements, then
added glass on top. This one had
2 pieces that were collaged noses, I named it
'Time will Tell'.

invisible cities

I made a series of monoprints based on the locations in
Italo Calvino's wonderful Invisible Cities.

earlier

Near the beginning of my computer adventures,
I practiced a lot on mandalas, using a plug-in that helped
compose the various elements. Still like some of them,
though they did get very complex..

Right is made up of buddha heads. The collage left in retrospect
would have improved in 'hard copy'.
Being able to try out many ideas kept me interested.
We all have to make our own mistakes, probably ~
& draw our own conclusions.

welcome news

A strangely dreamlike day, with some very good &
welcome news.

abbreviated

These are the last 2 spreads, of my short art history,
I ran out of pages in the book

oh well, history is totally subjective like most other things.
No?
To see some of the masterpieces in the great museums
is to fill a need that little else reaches. In Thailand it's
possible to find great art still in a living situation.. shall
see some soon!! (also true in India, Laos, Cambodia et al)

the asian art museum in San Francisco.

4th & 5th spread

Maybe my history is a bit vague at times, or dates for some
cultures are still controversial..
maybe I didn't scan all the pages..

also it had a lot to do with what photos or pages I could find;
am sure there was a lot happening in asia all through time.

more pages

If you know any art history, it's self explanatory..
if not, wonderful discoveries ahead of you, in any museum,
at sites both actual & virtual, tons of books etc.

I usually feel some strong connection to the artists, sculptors,
makers of artifacts from whatever time, as I'm sure most
creative people do, don't they?

Amazing coincidence: the British Museum

art history

Took one of those great concertina drawing books & made
a kind of collage art history, some time back, then played
with it a bit on the computer. There's paint, drawings &
added paper. As I'm busy elsewhere, I'll post the spreads
over next few days.

time tables

Found another small stash of photos of old works. It's not that
I'm really messy, I just haven't looked some places,
since I moved. The above collage/paintings/screenprints
were exploring images that could be read on any side.
I made a few into tables, & might make postcards,
as I've many photos with ambiguous orientation.

& a collage card. I did a number of monoprints, which now
look too rough ~from the digital perspective, I suppose.
Which is also why I'm not painting, perhaps.
Or time really is speeding up..do you think so?

Just read a great novel by Marya Hornbacher: The Centre
of Winter
. I don't have tv, read several books a week, & know it's
quite rare to savour every line. An enjoyable surprise, the series
by Sergei Lukyanenko. Anything by Haruki Murakami.

wondering

It's not altogether related, but was ready to use..

Woke up thinking about how it would be if/when
the whole system breaks down ~ money/
infrastructure/power-grid/et al.
Nothing we now take for granted would work or
be available. Like the science fiction books I used to read.
How to make some reasonable preparations
without future tripping?

Here is the overview that started this train of thought.
