as if its real

Have another site, asifitsreal
~ private until now ~ will post there instead.
I'll add some of my new paintings, &
photos from my Tibet & Nepal, China & other trips.
Email me if you want details of prints etc
address in right hand column under 'about'.
At present, painting is more compelling than digital artwork.

touching

Two new ones, I'm doing several different versions
before deciding which I like best.
That possibility makes it hard to return to painting.
The hand is in the earth touching gesture, it belongs to
a thai buddha. Have I mentioned how much
I like working at the 27inch screen on my new mac?

leaf-ing

3 new ones, they look good, big; I am also selling them
as limited edition prints, so small is what you get here.
More details by email (see under about me in right column)

new tricks

Having learnt some new digital tricks yesterday,
lots of fun with them today,
am not so keen for judgement day tomorrow ~ whatever that
is supposed to mean. Doubt it figures in the buddhist canon.
What do you think?

exercising

Exercising the brain, by working on both the pc & mac,
without fully understanding the latter, but it's clear that the
big bright screen is better to work on.
Can feel the neurons skidding around, making as if to leap
into/across the void, maybe it's true it helps to
do brain calisthenics?

Why not try the comment option?

new prints

Here are 4 new ones, available as limited edition prints,
more details by contacting me (email me,
address at right hand column under 'about me')
They are 16 inches wide, on glossy paper;
with digital printing, it can be variable, just not super large.
They look really fine on the new 27 inch screen.
If this sounds a bit vague: I'm making new ones, trying to
back up fiddly details eg bookmarks in a different browser,
learn the intricacies of the new Mac,
plus remember there is a body to take care of.

still there

Still in Turkey, in a way: making new pictures from
the photos I took there. Took the twin sphinx (what's the
plural?) to night at the museum. I've made 20 or so
new images, which are available as limited edition prints.
Most are about A4 size, not expensive.
(email me for details)

memory museum

There was an attractive small museum I went to in
Germany ~ Augsberg? ~ with the bronze horse head;
makes me remember the different horses we had as
kids, or later. We each developed incredibly strong
bonds with our own horses. We could ride all day
without seeing a fence.

Equine therapy is an interesting development.
look at how this great horse bounces!

happy 2011 !

In Turkey I was seeing the vast landscape, & feeling quite small
in it; later, on the screen, I saw how someone here
had used stones to make a message on the hill,
or perhaps their name, then most had been scattered.
It now reads 'I am'.

flying

I made some carpet birds & have them flying over a series
of Cappadocian landscapes. They almost disappear, in the
larger versions, I amped them up for this size.
There are cave houses at the base of the cliffs.

This is the picture I made for my email christmas cards.
Many of the others I've posted are also available in
limited edition prints, about A4 size.
Write a comment if you are interested, I'll give more details.
Or email me.

dig

Am playing with a few strands of thoughts/images to do with
memory/myth/tradition. Maybe I'll find a better
device than the almost-calligraphy that connects the sky
& patterns. It looks like an Arabic letter?

myth

I incorporated one of these Persian(?) dragons in a painting
long ago, she felt very at home by the volcanic lake.
Not sure of the provenance of the winged eagle lion; only when
I zoomed in to adjust it did I see the several flocks of
nervous sheep, nearby.
Yes I know they are small photos, however I'd like to
profit from them before anyone else tries to..
Available as prints, more details via email.
Not expensive

the works

The fountains before the Blue Mosque seemed to come
with music, a trippy sky, the works.
I'll do more like the manuscript birds, right.

cave dreams

Imagine the kinds of dreams you might have
in a cave room 7 floors underground, where for centuries
people had hidden during times of invasion.
In the city, the old trees looked down on us, the new invaders.

small folk

Will post a few of my new pictures, based around my month in
Turkey. Some are straight forward: no I didn't go ballooning.
The Cappadocian cave houses & their long history really
stirred the imagination, it was as if I kept seeing
small folk from the side of my eye, offering wildflowers.
As usual, you can email me for details of prints.

large prints

Might pull this apart & do it differently: it got so big, & my
computer so hot, I hurried more than I wanted to. It doesn't
work to have separate files, as you need to see how the whole
thing flows ~ or not. It's so enjoyable making images
from buddhas, & these from Bangkok have such refined &
meditative expressions. They'll be available
as limited edition prints, on paper, about 30 inches wide.
Email me.

reflect

Starting to put these together. When I found myself in a
quiet part of a temple in Bangkok, with rows of
golden buddhas behind glass, I was dismayed at the
many reflections. Soon saw the possibilities, though..

the multiple reflections produce a sort of hallucinatory
effect where it's .. where all kinds of outcomes seem possible.
I was there for hours, & no-one else came, not even the
builders whose renovations are mirrored in the glass.

calmer

Had a whole day doing something I'm unused to,
it was a bit of a strain. So here's some calm buddhas.
I made it big for limited edition giclee prints..
(as usual: email me for details)

flower power

A friend in mexico sent a link today for talks by Wes Nisker,
I just listened to a good piece about why he meditates.
Made the 'sitting' image a couple of years ago. You'll find more in
that series under labels/digital art, they are available as
limited edition prints. (write a comment/email for further details)
Having trouble last few days, with signing in to my blog etc.
..not a lot of patience for it..

flaming sword

Making small changes to some photos I shot in
Thailand; suits today, there are bushfires just
west of here, can smell the smoke.
Edition of 5 ~ leave a comment if you have a query.
