joins

Sometimes I take several shots in sequence,
to end up with a large file when they're joined;
without a tripod, it's hit & miss, like this Buddha in a
museum in Nepal - not really worth fiddling with
as the centre photo is out of focus anyway.
Might still use it in another image,
as I really liked the patina on the metal.

moments

Have been bug-eyed at the computer for a couple of
days, making a photobook of many years of travels -
it comes back in the mail. The earlier photos were
of course film, so scanned, often from mediocre
prints. So have been wishing again that I could
trip back in time, with a good digital camera.
& also noticing the difference when one has months or
years in an exotic locale - which can mean anywhere.
Learning a place rather than catching what you can.
Both ways have their merits, don't you think?

sponge

A special find at the beach, it looks like a
small tree thats been gathering sticks.
Have seen the beach at Stradbroke island covered
in them after big seas & winds, but could never figure
out how they come about. (There are some shells
which gather smaller shells & set them into their own.)
Now it looks like these sponges catch
grass/sticks, once they come loose from their roots.
If you know more, please let me know.

stones

One day I'll photograph

the whole beach.

Most of our beaches are sandy,

this one is still making the sand.

spring

the elegant new cycad leaves

& peach blossoms next to Bangalow palm seeds, left

meanwhile the tulips fade to an almost transparent..
imagine how Spring must have seemed after a long
cold winter, holed up in a cave!

birthdays

A week of birthdays, including my twin's & mine,
was thinking 'a lot of water under the bridge',
have no bridge photo, just this small dam.
Had several lovely celebrations.

graphic plants

The spikes of grass trees.

A bee headed for the grass tree flowers right
& a very spiky garden plant which I like more in the
photo than in person, theres just a pale thin spine down
each large leaf.

Close up of a large palm trunk, not sure
what variety.

temples

There's an abundance of great metal work in Nepal,
& wood carvings, & all kinds of hand worked treasures.
So much it's sometimes hard to see it all.

leonine

Two buddhas from Bangkok

& a lion from Nepal, wishing happy birthday to all
the Leos (that includes me).
In the early 1970's I went to the Gir forest to see lions,
sad to hear politics get in the way of
their territory being extended.

patan red

This particular red is ubiquitous in Nepal,
while not very attractive it suits the old timbers,
here in Patan.

These are a kind of samovar, though they may be
more for decoration.

shechen

Some typical Tibetan decoration,

here at the Shechen monastery in Boudanath.
I was staying at the attached guest house, &
liked it a lot.
