fires
What I need on a cold wet day.
Wonder if I've put these together before?
If you recall that I have, please let me know:
It doesn't bother me if thoughts take familiar tracks,
but its a short step then to boring..

ceilings
The beautiful painted ceilings caught my attention too,
while looking through a few thousand shots.
The light was not ideal, & I think I'd inadvertently
changed the setting on my camera.
They are in Topkapi also

fireplace
As I was searching for a particular photo from my
2010 trip to Turkey, I realised I was cold, (looking
through more than 10,000 shots) so noticed these two
through more than 10,000 shots) so noticed these two
elegant ottoman fireplaces that are in Istanbul's Topkapi
palace. Such a design needs a vast room.

play
Going to the beach with a small child is such fun.
The whole hearted pleasure at that age
is a lovely reminder, every moment new.

totems
Some of my sister's photos from their trip to W.A.,
which I turned around to find the waterline folk.
The place I really like the look of is the Bungle Bungles.
In a way, her photos reminded me of the mountains on the
road from Srinagar to Ladahk : looking like
ruined buildings, pagodas, carved walls etc.

beach
Walked at the beach today, its calm again, just a few
small waves at the edge. The sunny days are a delight.
In Sydney I saw the wonderful sculpture which this
you tube video begins with, by hossein valamanash

wildlife
Another carpet snake was catching the sun under
my courtyard roof, on the same day someone
had made the large design at the beach.
The yellow masked birds look like urban bandits.

lace
All the leaves of a vine in the garden were eaten by some
hungry creature, it reminded me of some lace I've kept
because it was made by my grandmother or her mother.
They can't have just sat around quietly very often!
Although I can recall my grandmother knitting
without having to look.
more cave art (but haven't they seen dappled horses?)

wreck
On the western side of the main beach at Byron Bay
there's an old wreck which often has bigger waves.
Here you can just see the surfers behind the wave spray.
Got them last week, it's been raining heavily for
days, have hardly been out.
I missed the transit of venus, some good photos at

harbour
Many large ficus at Balmoral, & a calm beach where
we went one day. The graceful angophora (here growing on
a sandstone boulder) are common along the coast.
A full moon while I was in Sydney, an eclipse too,
then a transit of venus, wonder if it means anything ?
& below my friends' house, a wonderful cove,
this rock is a particular favourite.
The city is not far away, yet seems so.

sydney
In Sydney for a week to meet friends, it was very wet
most of the time, but good to be somewhere different.
A festival named Vivid was in progress around
the Opera House & Circular Quay.
There were moving light shows across the museum of
contemporary art, the opera house, & nearby buildings
I liked this one. The projection moved across the curves,
you'll have to imagine that. A large crowd seemed
to be enjoying it too.

windy
Back from Sydney ahead of the big storms there,
the top of the waves in Byron were being
caught by the strong winds. Its cold too.
This large carpet snake was trying for some sun
in my neighbours garden. Another neighbour has
chickens, perhaps that's why it's so fat.
I'll add some Sydney shots in next days.

fade
This was at full stretch, in low light, I like it because its
reminiscent of memory.. fading. Its the Mekong
at Luang Prabang in Laos.

trees
We (collectively) have such a strange relationship with trees,
wouldn't you say? In Nepal I saw a photo in a museum,
of young girls who were betrothed to a tree.
I'm more on the worship side, or the carving that
somehow expresses that, but marrying one is perhaps too much...
