happy new year

Wishing you enjoyment in the year of the tiger.
This guy is from one of the delightful cloth books made in Laos,
apparently by children.
(posted this ahead of time, as I'm currently in Thailand)

A rusty valentine..

early

An early valentine, slightly ambiguous.
It's a watercolour I did in Mexico.
Having a last minute drama with flooded garage, we had
an extraordinary amount of rain, after a while there's
nowhere for the water to go. Anxious about how I could
return to green growing paintings, boxes of books etc...

making tracks

Leaving soon for Thailand. Half way there already, really,
in that it's where my focus has been for days.
Please keep any orders for copies of Burning Questions,
until my return about March17.

getting ready

Doing what I can to help the garden survive, cleaning
inside the house, some changing of what to pack: getting
ready to go.

poems etc

Left one of a series of paintings for a friend's poems.
Right was for a teaching story about stopping everything
at the moment of, say, an ant crawling.

tiny

In earlier times, when I was travelling for years at a time,
space & funds limited what I bought, so I used to get tiny
pieces such as these, to bring back to Australia.
I'll eventually get around to putting them in
a glass fronted box, perhaps.

narrative

Scanned from old & quite discoloured prints, though it's
possibly closer than my memory.. in Bali long ago, a pavillion
whose ceiling was covered in these fine narrative paintings.

Some graphic descriptions ! I'd like a little bit of that vibe
sent to who ever is leaving their stupid ads as 'comments'.
I like (crave!) ad-free spaces.. well, except for
my work here, & book, which is hardly intrusive.

sphinx

Should I have noticed something? It was a Leo full moon
on Saturday, I have sun moon pluto mercury & something
else in Leo at midheaven (doesn't mean I know it's meaning)
..it all feels fine, though the nights are very bright.
This painting didn't really get where I wanted, but maybe
one day I'll re-read Roberto Callasso & try it again.
